Just Animals

From what I know of Paganism...
it has appeared to me to be about
the very core of what we really are... as human beings.
Do they believe that everything is about SEX...?
That all of the universe... is SEXUAL...?
That everything that lives... is sexual in nature...?
and we shouldn't feel guilt about our sexual selves...?
Is this the basic construct of that belief?
If so... is it TRUTH...?
?
Have people determined... at the end of all of our human struggles...
that... all we are... are... animals...?
and that pleasure is our highest state of life...?
and that this is somehow... a Garden of Eden...?
No. Such could NOT be TRUTH.
We are much more than the animals.
We have memory... dreams... skills.
We speak.
We have a thinking mind that comes through our words.
We have complicated characters and personalities.
We can solve problems.
As humans... our emotions and intellect...
require more... than just pleasure.
We must learn to practice wisdom.
What we do... must be thoughtful and reasoned.
We often discover the feel of... betrayal...
and have made choices of our own that is... a betrayal of others.
We desire something safe... and sure.
We need to trust and be trusted.
We learn honor... and kindness.
And so... what is the Truth of love?
Is love just an invention someone made up
to assist man through his hangups about sex acts...?
or does love happen... for REAL?
Perhaps... love is just for the gentle of soul...
And... those who portray meanness and cruelty
like it was some birthright of a man...
... or birthright of a woman...
make the human soul wither.
Those who would live in a house without love and respect...
... they... may not ever discover the Truth of it... of love...
... and thus... may not ever believe in it.
The way I see it...
Love is the magic of the world...
not... sex.
Love is the blooming of our own souls...
and where we enjoy the chatter of our lives.
Surely we desire the innocence of that...
the natural harmony of that.
How horrible it must be
when there is no merry chatter in a home...
where there is vanity... and ugliness... together...
and... reasons... to fear.
No. It is the REFUSAL of mankind to live as only... an animal.
It was our REFUSAL to live our days out...
in this magnificent world...
as if we had no feelings... nor... reason.
It surely has been awful crawling out of our basest state.
Even today we see remnants of our primitive selves...
or at least know it is recent history...
that in that primitive state... cannibalism is common.
Battles were fought and the loser got "et."
Who could ever desire such a state of living as THAT?
We have crawled OUT of our animalistic states...
and have discovered more and more about this world we live in.
We learn LOVE in our families...
and we are still trying to master that one...
and how to interact with people who are different from ourselves.
We learn the skills of interacting... in those families...
hopefully embraced with love.
In marriage itself... we learn to live with differences.
As we learn each others' ways
we learn to adjust and change... to keep the peace...
well... change those things that might have needed
just a little more thought and refinement.
We also discover those things that we just CANNOT change...
or that are SWEET to us.
Surely we want sweetness and peace in our lives.
Our children will all have differences.
We love them... and help them refine themselves
in peace... and with respect for them.
We are ALWAYS learning the skills of interaction with others...
others... who are different from us.
Some cultures have mastered this quandry of life...
you know... learning to live with differences in others.
In the world of love...
for those who have discovered it...
there should be no harm.
How can we become harmless to each other...
in a state of TRUST with each other...
if there is no respect.
And if you practice... respect...
as we fulfill our own worth of respect...
we begin that slow and thoughtful walk
to the best expression of civilization...
where we will have finally mastered...
being... MORE... than... just animals.
